“Tomorrow I’ll Be Famous”

The night before PF Gobal Artists’ Pop-up Gallery for Selwyn Senatori opened in Chelsea, the artist feverishly painted the entire space. On one wall, he painted out the words “Tomorrow I’ll Be Famous”.

The enormous wall attracted tons of people who wanted to take photos to post on their networks. Working with the gallery on marketing, I suggested they use the selfie-takers to spread the word. In exchange for a picture, visitors had to hashtag TomorrowIllBeFamous.

They loved the motto. The hashtag penetrated deep into the urban art crowd. An emerging artist asked to film his video in front of the wall. Then, Russell Simmons tweeted out the video. Senatori’s work was shared with over 3 million followers.

Now the Amsterdam artist has some legitimate US exposure– started by a bunch of selfies.
